Our herds of Bison, Elk and Deer roam an 80 acre pasture and you will be sure to get up close with these animals in their natural environment on your farm walk and depending on the time of year you may even see some young. These are dangerous farm animals that occupy a big area and at no time can you enter their pasture so be prepared to walk.
The animals are only half the farm as we are recognised by the RSPB and Durham Bird Club as the North East of England’s most prolific lowland farm for wild birds, 120 species have been spotted here. We boast the largest population of Corn Bunting in the North East. There are Tree Sparrows, Skylark, Red Shank and Kestrel to name but a few our nature reserve is a haven for rare plants and butterflies.
After all this exercise come back to the Farm/coffee Shop
and enjoy our homemade drinks and snacks. Then as you leave pick up some local produce, try some venison or bison steaks maybe some pheasant or just some game pie we have it all whether you want a quick quality meal after work or some weekend gourmet cooking. Alternatively you may want a unique gift or just something to remember your day at Farnless and we have it in our shop.
